A SWINDON choir will be filling Westminster Central Hall with Christmas spirit when they lead a special charity concert next month.

The Wessex Male Choir will be performing at the Parkinson’s Disease Society’s Christmas Carol Concert in Westminster Central Hall, London, on December 9.

It is the third year that the choir has led this festive concert, which is held at the prestigious hall opposite Westminster Abbey.

This year the choir is thrilled to perform in the presence of HRH The Duchess of Gloucester GCVO.

Also performing is the Crystal Palace Band and the inspirational Sing for Joy, a choir for people with Parkinson’s and other conditions.

The evening will also include readings from Jane Asher, Richard Briers, Phyllida Law and Bill Neely as well as a joint performance with the choir from soprano singer Elin Manahan Thomas.

Musical director Rob Elliot said: “We are so pleased to be taking part in this hugely popular concert which marks the start of the festive season for us.

“We will be signing pieces from our existing repertoire as well as a number of yuletide favourites for the audience to enjoy.

“We have a history of supporting the Parkinson’s Disease Society - earlier this year we sang, and busked, at the London Marathon for over eight hours to raise money for this worthwhile cause - and we are very proud to be part of this important event again this year.”

The concert will be hosted by BBC news presenter Jane Hill.

The concert starts at 7pm and tickets cost £25 or £12 for Parkinson’s Disease Society members.

Guests are also invited to stay for a mulled wine and mince pie reception after the concert.

Tickets are available by logging on to www.parkinsons.org.uk/carolconcert. Online bookings are limited to six tickets per person.
