SWINDON Sea Cadets were awarded for their exemplary conduct at a ceremony at their base, TS Resolution, in Upham Road.

The event on Tuesday rewarded cadets aged 10 to 18 for their skills at watersports, piping and service to their unit.

The Best Junior Cadet Achievement Award went to Cara Scott; the Best Junior Male Achievement award went to Luke Williams and the Junior Cadet Of The Year award went to Elizabeth Lawton.

James Lawton picked up awards for the Cadet Most Improved in Drill and the Best Cadet Achievement.

Jeremy van der Sanden collected the award for the Best Cadet On Course.

Lauren Taylor received an award for Boatwork Achievement, Karenza Clements received an award for Seamanship Achievement and Jordan Greenwood received an award for Best Piping.

Georgina Bennett picked up the award for Best New Entry, Natasha Barnard got an award for Best Cadet; James Lawton for Best Ordinary Cadet and Hannah Ornov received Cadet Of The Year.and Best Able Cadet .

Four cadets – Natasha Barnard, James Lawton, Ben Manning and Jordan McGinn – were applauded for their role in Remembrance Sunday and the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Pauline van der Sanden, the chairman of the Parent and Supporters Association said: “It was a very proud moment for all of the staff and parents involved.

“The young people who make up Swindon Sea Cadets have always been well turned out and their behaviour exemplary.

“It is only right they should be rewarded for their conduct and their achievements.”
