POLICE in Swindon are renewing their appeal for information after a shop assistant was assaulted by a group of men.

The incident happened at around 2.40pm on Sunday, January 17 when five men entered the Liquor World store on Marlowe Avenue, Walcot, and attacked the shop assistant before breaking the glass window outside and making off in the direction of Drakes Way. The victim suffered minor injuries.

Officers are interested in information about a black Mercedes that was seen parked in an access road at the side of the parade of shops in Marlowe Avenue at the time of the incident.

Detective Constable Louise Bowen said: “Part of our enquiries into this incident are looking at the possibility that it is linked with the shooting in Spruce Court, Swindon on January 16, but as enquiries are ongoing it would be inappropriate to speculate at this stage.

“We are keen to hear from anyone with any information on this incident no matter how small and we will treat all information received in confidence.”

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact officers on 0845 408 7000 ext 760248 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if people wish.
