Liana Sinclair will be throwing herself out of a plane next weekend to thank the hospice that cared for her sister before she died of a rare disease.

The chartered surveyor, 33, will be taking part in a tandem skydive to raise money for the Prospect Hospice in memory of her sister Lisa Peach, who died aged 47 last October from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease.

She said she wanted to thank the hospice for the first-class care they provided for her sister, but also the support they offered to Lisa’s eight-year-old son Ethan during and after her death.

Mrs Sinclair, from Wroughton, said: “Lisa was diagnosed in 2007 and she lived a normal life and continued to work at Haydon Wick Asda Wal-Mart as a checkout operator.

“She was there until mid 2009 when sadly her illness became far worse and she was unable to walk and for all intents and purposes was housebound.

“Lisa found that as her condition worsened that she was reliant on her oxygen and in the end was on it 24 hours a day.

“It was at this point that we all got to see the fantastic care Prospect gave her.

“They supported the family immensely and my sister was determined that both Ethan and her husband Graham should be able to continue as normal a life as possible despite her illness and the Prospect were fantastic.

“Ethan thoroughly enjoys sports and his after-school classes so they arranged for a taxi to pick him up from school and drop him home so that he could continue his regime.

“The Prospect was a ray of sunshine on some very dark days. Even after my sister died, they called to check on us all and are still there if we need any counselling or assistance.”

She will be taking part in the jump, with friend Ewa Sobierajska, on March 21. Anyone interested in sponsoring should go to www.justgiving.
