EVERY Swindon Town shirt has been snapped up from the club shop before today’s Wembley showdown.

This week, more than 650 people flocked through the doors of the official Town shop at the County Ground to wear their colours before the big game.

The four full-time staff and two helpers have been rushed off their feet for the past few days as every scrap of memorabilia including scarves, flags, T-shirts and polo shirts have been grabbed as soon as they are pulled out of the stock room.

Karen Randall, 19, from Abbey Meads, has been an assistant in the Swindon Town shop since last August. She says she has never seen it so busy and is hoping that there will be just one scarf left for her to take to the game against Millwall this afternoon.

“We have sold out of all the kit, all the home, away and third shirts are all gone. Even the children’s kit has sold out. All we have left are the mini kits for cars,’’ she said. “I have never seen it as busy as this, it is even busier than match days. And the phone keeps going with online orders.’’ Karen moved to Swindon seven years ago and says that the team turned her into a big fan. She says that she has met all the players and likes them all.

“It’s hard to pick just one favourite. I did the signings with them on Thursdays and that made me a bit goosey.’’ Karen will be one of the thousands of Town fans heading up to London today and she says it’s even worth getting up early for. “I’ll be there. We are driving up, but that may be difficult with 62 coaches heading up there. I am very excited and I will be wearing the white away shirt that they are wearing on the pitch,’’ said Karen.

She says that everyone is disappointed that the players are in white rather than red. “It was the FA’s decision. If it was up to us they would be wearing red.’’
