THE iPad made its Swindon debut last week as Apple released its latest technological innovation in the UK.

The much coveted ‘tablet’ computer was available at Western Computer, in Brunel Plaza and sold its supply of more than 60 in the first day.

The shop was busy all day as customers came in to look at the new piece of equipment which has taken the computer world by storm.

Keith Courtman, managing director of Western Computer, said excitement in the shops had been mounting by the day.

“I challenge anyone to come in and try it, and not buy one or at least put one at the top of their ‘must have’ list,” he said.

Hailed as a revolutionary new platform with faster internet access speeds than the iPhone, this new content and delivery device is likely to quickly become a 21st century icon.

“It’s smart and sexy and is destined to be an absolutely huge success in our stores” said Mr Courtman.

“We’ll be getting more in our stores as soon as possible.”

Apple launched the iPad in the USA in April, selling a million in the first month. It is still selling 200,000 a week and expects the UK market to be just as receptive.
