PUPILS got a glimpse into their future careers when businesses came to their school yesterday.

Year nine pupils from the Swindon Academy were visited by 18 different business representatives who spoke to students about their careers.

The pupils were able to ask what different jobs involve, the qualifications they needed and steps they should take to get there.

Swindon College principal, Jan Shadick, who has been in charge since the academy opened three years ago, said the event had been a success.

She said: “Our year nines are just about to start looking at options and today was to give them a full understanding of what they need for their next step.

“We have children now talking about all sorts of professions that they want to go into including medicine, veterinary work and working with children.

“We have also got children looking to go to university,” she said.
