A MAN has been fined £400 after making cash refunds to himself while working as a shop assistant.
At Swindon Magistrates Court on Monday Zane Sooki, of Priory Vale, pleaded guilty to fraud.
While working at Staples in 2009 Sooki made refunds in cash to himself to the value of £90.
Lee Mott, defending, said: “He was under a tremendous amount of pressure, his marriage was suffering and he was under financial pressure and on the verge of losing his house.”
The court heard that Sooki had been co-operative with the police.
“In interview, when asked about this, he said ‘I have no excuse, I have my reasons but I have no excuse,’” said Mr Mott.
Sooki was fined £400, ordered to pay £90 in compensation to Staples, £85 court costs, and a victim surcharge of £15.
