A MAN has been ordered to carry out 40 hours unpaid work after being caught driving while disqualified.

Andrew Childs, of Penhill, pleaded guilty at Swindon Magistrates Court to driving a Suzuki without insurance. He also did not have a valid driving licence when he was spotted driving in June last year.

He had been disqualified for dangerous driving in 2007 for 12 months and would remain so until he took a driving test the court was told.

Magistrates understood that he was confused as to the conditions of his ban and gave him 40 hours unpaid work.

He was given a £200 fine for driving without insurance, as well as £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £15, as well as six points on his licence when he passes a driving test.
