CAN YOU give Ash the border collie a good home?

Swindon dog walker Linzi Matthews contacted the Adver to appeal for a home for Ash, whose owner lost his battle with terminal cancer last week.

For the past six months, Linzi, of Cornwall Avenue, in Rodbourne, has been helping look after nine-year-old Ash by taking him on regular walks.

Now the collie has been taken in by the Flaxlands Kennels and Cattery, off Brinkworth Road, Wootton Bassett, because his mistress is in ill health and is not able to look after him.

But Linzi and kind-hearted kennel staff are anxious to re-home him.

“Ash is a very intelligent loving dog and he would suit an active older person or couple rather than a family,” said Linzi.

“Ideally he would be well placed with someone who is experienced with border collies.”

Ash is very obedient and needs an understanding home. However, he is not used to young children.

“Because I’ve been helping out I’ve developed a good relationship with the owners and I would like to do something for them and find him a home,” she said.

Linzi said anyone wishing to take on Ash must have patience and affection and be prepared for health issues which will arise as he gets older.

Anyone interested in giving Ash a home will have to undergo an application process and should contact Linzi on 01793 610581.
