Last Saturday Town bounced straight back after the result in Burton to comfortably beat Barnet at the County Ground and make it 4 wins out of the last 5 games.

Apart from a dodgy first 10 minutes where Barnet could have snatched an early lead, Town controlled the game and by half-time the game was over as a contest with the score 3-0.

The second half was less eventful with Matt Ritchie adding just one more to the score-line with a great solo goal, which takes his goal tally up to 5 for the season.

When the season started in August a lot of Town fans, pundits and myself said that Matt Ritchie would be a vital player to our promotion push and so far he hasn’t disappointed.

His positional play and finishing has been excellent and his partnership with Paul Caddis has been one of the standout parts of the team this season.

When you add Simon Ferry to that mix you know the sort of quality we have at the club and those three particular have been key, keeping hold of all those players when January comes around will be a tough job for Paolo and the board.

Lets hope they stay strong and reject any offers that come in to the club, but as we all know every player is available at the right price.

This week we’ve seen another new face come to the County Ground in Liam Ridehaigh, a left back who has joined on loan for a month initially.

He is highly rated up in Huddersfield but due to lack of first team football has joined us in Wiltshire to compete for his position with Callum Kennedy and Alessandro Cibocchi.

With Liam also being able to play across the whole of the backline and with normal defensive cover Cibocchi not being fully fit most weeks he’ll be a perfect sub for any defender during a game.

Over the coming weeks Town have a huge opportunity to move us closer to that coveted top spot in League Two when Town take on 18th, 23rd, 19th and then 24th in the league, Taking all 3 points in these more winnable games will be key and have a big impact in our season.

Tonight Town make the trip to Moss Rose to take on Macclesfield.

After being embarrassed last weekend by penniless and bottom of League Two Plymouth the Silkman sit in 18th place in League Two.

After the impressive display last weekend I doubt Paolo will make many changes to his team Friday night apart from Aden Flint coming back into the first eleven in place of either Joe Devera or Alberto Comazzi.

With Town on a high after last weekend and Macclesfield struggling for form I can’t see past another important Town win to take us possibly into the playoff places for a night at least!
