Town’s roller coaster season continued this week with a league defeat to 18th in League Two, and then taking a trip to a League One side Exeter and leaving with a place in the JPT Quarter-Finals.

During Paolo Di Canio’s career as a player he never went unnoticed by the media, either he was in the news for pushing a ref to the floor and then scoring one of the best ever goals in the Premier League.

It was one extreme to another and at the moment his side are mirroring that on the pitch.

The whole teams performance against Barnet showed the quality we have in the team but the next week against Macclesfield we conceded and seemed to have no answers.

Swapping Jonathan Smith for Alan McCormack and Alan Connell for Lukas Magera didn’t make sense with both the replaced players playing very well the previous week.

Connell and Kerrouche so far this season have been a successful partnership and needs to be given time to improve, with Magera and Jervis coming on if needed.

I understand some changes are essential with injures and having Aden Flint back will be key to any success we have this season.

After watching Alberto Comazzi have a horror show against Macclesfield I’m sure we’ll see Aden back in Town’s first eleven this Saturday.

After the arrival of defender Liam Ridehaigh last week another loan signing Jake Jervis joined him at the County Ground soon after.

It was great to see him make a big impact in his first start for the club on Tuesday night scoring two goals.

Having a player like Jake will be perfect from the bench with his pace being able to change a game.

The other good piece of news to come from the Exeter game was the return of Lander Gabilondo to the starting line-up.

I understand he hasn’t been involved recently due to confidence issues which I hope he can overcome because as we saw Tuesday his ability is there for all to see, it would be great to see him at least on the bench on Saturday.

This Saturday we take on 23rd placed Hereford Utd at the County Ground.

During the week Hereford appointed e-x Preston and Shrewsbury manager Gary Peters as Director of Football to help out former Town youth player and Hereford Manager Jamie Pitman.

Hereford come into the game on the back of 5 games without a win and only 1 win this season, but despite this poor record they still have some quality with on loan Goalkeeper David Connell, who’s had a good start to this season.

After showing a couple of weeks ago what we are capable of I predict a similar scoreline with Town improving their goal difference sufficiently over the 90 minutes.
