Twins Kaitlyn and Chloe Hill both auditioned for a part in the West End production of Billy Elliot.

Kaitlyn won the role of Angela Dobson – but Chloe missed out because of an ankle injury. But is still delighted for her sister.

The girls, from Merlin Way, Covingham, both attend the Tanwood School Of Dance And Performing Arts and Kaitlyn follows in the footsteps of another Tanwood student, Lucy Sims, who is already one of the Billy Elliot company.

Kaitlyn, 11, has been rehearsing with the professional company for seven weeks and her first performance at The VIctoria Palace Theatre is on November 18.

Mother Debbie says she is really proud of both her girls. “Kaitlyn is our little star but although Chloe was disappointed she is pleased for her sister,” she said.

Kaitlyn is no stranger to the stage, having appeared in many of the Summer Youth Projects at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre and the touring production of Annie when it came to the theatre.

“I love performing, I love dancing, acting and singing although we don’t sing in Billy Elliot,’’ she said.

She has seen the film and the show twice when she went to watch Lucy.

“I love the show and my favourite dance number that I do is Shy,’’ she said.

Her role of Angela, one of the ballet girls, she admits suits her very well. “She is a bit of a daydreamer and so am I,’’ she said.

“I want to thank Miss Mollie, Miss Pollyann and especially Miss Denise at Tanwood for helping me and all my family for their support. Chloe has been really nice and very supportive.’’ The Dorcan Technology College pupil has one more week of rehearsals left and says she is both nervous and excited.

“The rehearsals are really hard but it’s been good fun and everyone is really nice,’’ said Kaitlyn, who has been dancing since she was three. The last six years she has been with Tanwood and before that she attended the Sullivan School Of Dance.

Her mother says the whole family is looking forward to seeing her on the London stage.
