SCHOOL uniforms have been swapped for flat caps, aprons and shawls at Lydiard Millicent Primary School as part of a Victorian Week.
All 200 pupils have donned Victorian costumes as part of the history week, which includes Victorian style lessons, maypole dancing and art sessions.
The week is to mark the end of an era after all the pupils moved into a new building in September, leaving the old Victorian school building, which is now the pre-school, behind.
Karen Conway-Wallace, Year 1 teacher and history subject leader at the school, said: “The Victorian building is not being used as a school anymore and so we are thinking about where the school has come from. The children are very excited and they look fantastic.”
On Thursday they will be having a tea party to mark the school’s closure in 1897 for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.
