ALISON Pitceathly from Allington, near Devizes, is running the London Marathon to raise money for cancer charities after her sister was diagnosed with the disease.

Claire Webb Mrs Pitceathly, a mother-of-three, has never run a marathon before but her training is going well and she is confident of crossing the finish line at Westminster on Sunday.

She has signed up with Team PB, which raises money for research into breast cancer and prostate cancer and is the 2012 Virgin London Marathon’s official charity. She can be sponsored at www.justgiving.com/Alison-Pitceathly Mother-of-two Claire Webb is raising money for Self Unlimited in Rowde, which offers training opportunities for adults with learning disabilities.

Mrs Webb, from Bowerhill, Melksham, said: “I wanted to support a local charity where you can see where the money is going to help. My sister works there as a support worker.”
