CROWDS packed into the Oasis at the weekend for a taste of all things vintage.

A traditional craft fayre took place on Sunday with an array of delights from vintage sweets to retro homeware.

The star attraction was the Blitz Buddies – a dance troupe who brought a sense of nostalgia to proceedings with their interpretation of the Lindy Hop.

Fayre organiser Mandy Williams, who sells retro sweets, said the day was a huge success.

She said: “This was the first fayre I have organised and I was really pleased with how it all went.

“There was a steady stream of people coming in and having a look around – I think it was because of how central we were and because people seem really interested in everything vintage these days.

“The dance troupe were absolutely fantastic – everyone was smiling and laughing.

“I was surprised that so many teenagers were interested in the dancing, but they are the ones who seem really into vintage items.

“Overall the day was really enjoyable and is something that I hope we can do again.”

Michelle Taylor, 15, said the event was just the kind of thing she is into.

She said: “All my friends love vintage clothes so this was a great event for us. The homeware was really cool and looked great.

“I would like to start a vintage clothing shop when I am a little older as I think it will still be fashionable.”
