FANCY footwork has won Ellie Wilson a place in the English National Ballet Youth Dance Company.

The 15-year-old, of Blunsdon, is travelling to Hammersmith every week to rehearse and perform with other talented dancers after scoring a place in the prestigious group.

Ellie has been dancing since she was six and hopes this will help to fulfill her dream of becoming a professional dancer.

“I have always wanted to be a dancer. I just like performing to people,” she said. “I want to inspire people and performing is really exciting.

“Being part of the English National Ballet Youth Dance Company means I will get to work with different choreographers and get taught pieces. I will have to perform them too.”

The Highworth Warneford pupil, who attends the Kirsty Farrow Dance Academy, is grade Advanced 1 for ballet. She also has lessons in tap, modern, jazz, ballet and contemporary dance.

She said she was not nervous before her audition.

“It is quite easy to remember the steps if you imagine the music and work with the music,” she said.

“I am really chuffed they chose me. They said I was really good in the audition.”

Performance venues are set to include Trafalgar Square, The Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, and Twickenham Stoop.

Ellie and her duet partner, Francesca Lever, 16, have won several trophies and cups at dance festivals over the last two months.
