THE story of cellist and composer Janie Price enthralled the lunchtime audience at the Arts Centre Yesterday.

Janie attracted a large crowd to discuss her book, A Real Journey, which reveals the ordeal of how she travelled from Athens to Edinburgh. But she had just five weeks to get there in time for the Edinburgh Festival.

If that wasn’t bad enough, she had to make the journey with a fellow performing artist, against another team, and with no money or modes of transport. They had to earn their way to Edinburgh using her musical skills alone to eat, travel and survive.

During the talk, she revealed that she is a professional cellist and has been playing since she was six-years-old.

She also spoke a little about her personal life, and how a couple of days before she applied to be on a show, she’d just come out of a long term relationship and she had to sell everything that she had to do with him, including her house.

Janie has also made two albums and is currently working on a third. She now has a new partner and she has recently given birth to their daughter, Charlotte.

Janie gave the audience a real insight into her life and journey throughout the past three years and has shown her passion for music and other performing arts. – TOM FRY
