A LOCAL charity raised £865 at a fundraising dinner.

Biplob, in Wood Street, hosted the dinner in aid of Swindon Counselling Service, on April 30, as part of the charity’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

It was attended by a number of local dignitaries, including Mayor of Swindon Coun Ray Ballman, MP Robert Buckland, and council leader Rod Bluh. Also in attendance was Mavis Cheek, author and patron of the charity.

Charity trustee Clare Lindsay said: “Swindon Counselling Service is proud to be celebrating 25 years in such fine company.

“Our thanks to everyone who attended, everyone who donated raffle prizes and especially to Rokib and the staff at the Biplob for hosting this event.”

The Swindon Counselling Service receives no government funding and is reliant on charitable donations and contributions from its clients to keep its doors open and its services available to those in need of counselling. For those who would like to support the charity but were unable to attend, the service has recently set up a text donation service. To donate, text SSCS25 £5 to 70070.
