Swindon College, in conjunction with Wiltshire FA, is offering a new route into football for students who enjoy playing the game, whether it’s socially or in competition.

The process starts with Just Play, an FA initiative sponsored by Mars, for students who want to play football as a social activity with no pressure or no competition against other teams involved.

The next level of progression is Team 19, a college five-a-side league managed by students.

The teams can then compete against each other throughout the year and use the online league table to keep track of their movement and progress.

Finally, players who show exceptional performance can try out for the Swindon College Football Academy.

The team will then train on a weekly basis and play matches against other local colleges and organisations such as Wiltshire Police.

Sam Bramfitt, curriculum area manager for sports, public services and travel & tourism said: “Football has really taken off at Swindon College this year.

“The launch of Just Play means that players can take part in a game loosely around football, with no commitment. You can turn up and just play on a weekly basis with your friends.

“Alternatively, there is the opportunity to progress further to higher levels of commitment if you wish to.”
