AFTER touring Bristol early in the morning on May 23, the torch is scheduled to arrive in Wiltshire – Chippenham to be exact – at 9.46am, and celebrations to commemorate the historic day will ensure it lives in the memories of residents.

Events include a cultural Olympiad for youngsters, entertainment for the crowds, and a civic reception for the six torchbearers – William Cruickshank, 58, of Wotton Under Edge; Clive Burrows, 53, of Chippenham; Rob Warwick, 46, of Chippenham; Roger Crang, 56, of Cheltenham; Sam Way, 13, of Chipping Norton; and Tom Perkins, 40, of Chippenham.

As the torch moves to Calne, the council will be celebrating in style, with schools taking part in a mini-Olympics.

Later, in Marlborough, more than 3,000 children are expected to line the route through the High Street.

The torchbearers for the Marlborough leg are Eddie Jenkinson, 52, from Royal Wootton Bassett; Iain Perkins, 59, and Sue O’Connell, 47, both from Swindon; and Jo Cook, 28, from Hungerford.

9.46am: Bristol Rd, Marshfield Road, Park Lane, New Rd, High St, Market Place, The Causeway, London Rd Then by convoy to Calne

Arrives in Calne at 10.45am

10.45am: Curzon St from Savernake Drive Junction, New Rd (A4), London Rd, Wessington Avenue, A4 to Lakeview Then by convoy to Marlborough

Arrives in Marlborough at 11.25am

11.25am: Bath Rd, High St, New Rd, Barn St, Herd St Then by convoy to Chiseldon

Luke Shipway, 22, of Calne

Gym manager Luke Shipway, right, will be carrying the flame through Royal Wootton Bassett. The 22-year-old triathlete set up events company Events Logic UK offering support and advice before sporting events, raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and The FireFighters Charity.

Rob Warwick, 46, Chippenham

Marathon man Rob Warwick, right, is pleased as punch to be blazing a trail through Chippenham with the torch. The firefighter and Scotsman has run 14 half-marathons in two years for charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, and ran the London marathon last month for the Micro and Anophthalmic Children’s Society.

The torch arrives in Cirencester at 3.42pm on May 23

3.42pm: London Road from Beeches Road junction Lewis Lane, then right turn to South Way, then veer right to North Way, then turn left to Market Place, Castle Street, then turn left to Sheep Street, then turn right to Hammond Way The torch then leaves by convoy for Stroud.
