POLICE have arrested the 17 year old driver of the car that crashed on Marlborough Road crash killing Costi Voulgaris.

Costi, 19, from Swindon, was a passenger in the vehicle and died on June 14 the crash.

The driver of the vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.

At approximately 1.10am on Thursday, June 14 a silver coloured Vauxhall Corsa was being driven eastbound along Marlborough Road towards Coate Water. The vehicle left the carriageway to the nearside, colliding with a tree.

As a result of the collision a 19 year old passenger, Costi, sustained multiple injuries and died at the scene.

The 17 year old driver of the vehicle was also injured and was taken to hospital.

He has now been discharged from hospital and was arrested on the evening of June 27 on suspicion of death by dangerous driving. He was taken to Gablecross police station and bailed to return on a date in early August. Enquiries continue.

The road was closed for 6 hours to allow for collision investigation work, the recovery of the vehicle and repairs to the road surface.

Police have appealed for witnesses who may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision or the collision itself to get in touch and assist with enquiries.
