A MAN was taken to hospital following a light aircraft crash at Cotswold Airport (formerly Kemble) yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 2.50pm.
Fire crews from Cirencester and Tetbury attended, as well as paramedics, police and the air Ambulance.
The pilot, who was the only person on board, was taken to Frenchay Hospital by air ambulance.
A spokesman for Great Western Ambulance Service said: “We received a 999 call from the airport at 2.50pm and members of the trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team were first ambulance resources on scene.
“The patient is described as critical but stable having been assessed and stabilised on scene before being flown to Frenchay Hospital by the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, accompanied by the doctor.”
The spokesman said the man was suffering with serious burns.
It is not yet known if the aircraft was coming in to land or taking off at the time of the accident.
