NEW College students have been recognised for their hard work and dedication to study at a leavers’ ceremony attended by 250 parents, friends and family.

There were 77 prize winners and they picked up prizes and vouchers worth between £25 and £100 each.

Students in science, computing, media, childcare and many more subjects came together to celebrate their achievements of the year and throughout their time at New College.

Phoebe Osborne won the Victoria Rose Bowl Award for her commitment to the Netball Academy. The award is in memory of Victoria Hart, a former New College student who died in a car accident 11 years ago.

Chairman of governors Anne Carrigan and Lynne Ridge presented the Steve Ridge Adult Learner Award to Jacqueline Reger. Jacqueline, who hopes to become a radiographer, will complete her BTEC in medical science this year with a distinction.

Emil Tochev and Nick Glover Mooney impressed teachers with their problem solving skills in mathematics. The pair received recognition for their hard work and genuine thirst for the most challenging of problems.

Julia Fowler and Dale Ballard have been given recognition for their academic achievement and support of others as mature students.
