SWINDON Scrapstore is holding a fundraising event on July 28 to help pay for a new van.

The event, which runs from noon to 2pm at Gorse Hill Community Centre, will help the charity reach its £15,000 target to replace its van, which is old, unreliable and expensive to maintain.

The Scrapstore is an environmental charity, community resource centre and social enterprise that promotes re-use as a means of protecting the environment.

Project manager Olivia McCann said: “We hope the community will come along on the day and support this worthy cause. The Scrapstore is run by local people for the benefit of the Swindon community and benefits more than 40,000 people in Swindon each year.”

There will be face painting, arts and crafts, stalls and a free cuddly toy for every child.

There are a limited numbers of tables still available at a cost of £6 – to book, call Kathleen Bond on 07733 416604 or 336924.

The Scrapstore Reuse Centre is based at Unit 5 Bridgemead Business Centre, Bridgemead Close, Westmead. To donate items or money, visit www.scrapstore.co.uk, phone 01793 513982 or email swss@scrapstore.co.uk.
