ONE of Swindon’s busiest roads is to be partly closed for about three weeks later this year to enable contractors to remove a footbridge.

Swindon Council plans to close Ermin Street for about 50 metres either side of the railway bridge adjacent to the A419/A420 roundabout from November 9.

The recommended alternative routes are via Oxford Road, Greenbridge roundabout, Swindon Road and Grange Drive, and vice-versa.

The weight restriction along Ermin Street is proposed to be suspended for the duration of the works.

Access will be maintained for pedestrians, except for the early hours of Sunday, November 11, and Sunday, November 18, between 1am and 8am.

These orders will come into operation on November 9 for 12 months, although it is anticipated work will be completed by November 26.
