The National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC) celebrated at the 2017 Build It Awards where they were crowned the winner in the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Self Build’ category.

The annual Build It Awards celebrates all aspects of self build and renovation and brings together architects, manufacturers and key industry figures in recognition of innovation and excellence in the custom home sector.

The NSBRC team, along with a number of their exhibitors, attended the awards ceremony, which was held at London Bankside and hosted by comedian Marcus Brigstocke.

The NSBRC was recognised for the contribution the unique visitor centre has made in helping thousands of people to design and build their own homes, and for the current team having turned the business around since converting to an employee-owned business in 2014.

The award was presented by Richard Bacon MP. Richard was the founder of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Self-Build, Custom & Community Housebuilding and Placemaking, and in the last Parliament he successfully steered into law the Self-Build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015, to make it easier for individuals and groups to obtain land to build their own homes.

NSBRC managing director, Harvey Fremlin, says: “We are thrilled that the NSBRC has been recognised by our peers for the special place it has in helping people design, plan and build their dream homes. It is a real team-effort at the NSBRC, with all the staff being employee-owners, so to be recognised in this way is a proud moment for us all, and a great reward for the efforts we have gone to to ensure this fantastic resource is enjoyed by thousands of individuals and businesses across the UK”.

The NSBRC team were also recently recognised at the Newsquest 2017 business awards – winning ‘Small business of the Year’.

The National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC) is unique as the UK’s only permanent self build visitor centre. Open 6 days a week (Tues – Sun) all year round it is the must-visit destination for anyone creating their own home.

The NSBRC’s next large event is the BIG Green Home Show, held 6th to 8th October – Visit their website for more details: www.nsbrc.co.uk
