HUNDREDS of families are expected at this year’s popular lambing weekends at Wiltshire College Lackham.
Children will be able to get up close and personal with the lambs and have their photographs taken on the weekends of March 14 and 21, both from 10am to 5pm.
There will be tractor and trailer rides around the Lackham estate, a mini farmers’ market, land train and fairground rides, a Lackham farm shop selling produce such as meat and eggs, plant sales, a student-run tea room and an exhibition of woodland crafts courtesy of the college’s countryside management team.
Youngsters will also be able to see the wild deer at Lackham, as well as cows, calves and pigs. There will be a round-the-farm quiz and spot the lamb competition trail, with treats for each child completing the quiz.
Demonstrations of cow milking will be given from 1.30pm each day.
Entry is £7 for adults and £5 for under 16s, or £25 for a family of four or more, with children under two free. For more details, go to www.wiltshire.ac.uk
Lackham will also stage a lambing week between the two weekends, to give a farm experience to groups of secondary and primary schools.
