A mass kite-flying event to raise awareness about the global fight to eradicate hunger will take place in Otley next week.
Hundreds of kites, all made by pupils from eight local schools and bearing anti-poverty messages, will be unleashed at Wharfemeadows Park on Friday, April 19. The event, part of Oxfam’s Flying the Kite for Food initiative, was originally due to take place in March but had to be postponed due to snow.
Children and staff from schools in Otley, Bramhope and Pool-in-Wharfedale will be there to cheer their kites on as they are released.
The project is in support of the Enough Food For Everyone IF campaign, which aims to lobby world leaders to make simple changes that could end hunger.
