GAMBLING addict Shaun Bailey has been sentenced to four years in prison after robbing a lone cashier using an imitation firearm at Ladbrokes in Regent Circus on 28 March.

Farnsby Street is closed while police respond to an incident on top of the Brunel car park. The incident is ongoing and the car park is being cleared.



The re-staging of Swindon Robins' home Elite League match against Leicester, which was postponed yesterday, has now been officially confirmed for Thursday, June 5.



David Howell tells the Advertiser that he didn't feel comfortable throughout both his first and second rounds at the PGA Championship at Wentworth.

His six-over-par second round today means he is likely to miss the cut.

He said: “I started poorly, I was hitting it poorly on the range and it just got worse. No doubt the conditions didn’t help - but it wasn’t bad enough to shoot five-over.

“I felt that I played pretty well on the Thursday without feeling entirely comfortable, so to go out and do this is very disappointing.”

David Howell birdied the final hole of his second round at Wentworth this afternoon but his five-over-par effort leaves him well off the pace in the PGA Championship.




It appears David Howell is going to miss the cut at the PGA Championships at Wentworth.

Three bogeys so far on the back nine have sent the Broome Manor pro tumbling to four-over-par overall. The projected cutline stands at one-over at present.



Ryan Martin’s professional career has been put on hold again after a hand injury forced him to withdraw from his June 7 fight.

Martin was originally scheduled to fight on the KM Promotions bill at the Oasis Leisure Centre.

Having birdied the par-four seventh to move back to level par, the Swindon golfer shot bogeys at eight and nine and is looking less and less likely to make the cut.
