A MAN locked out of the pub in which he had been drinking smashed the glass door, causing £200 of damage, a court heard.
Michael Conners, aged 20, of Sycamore Grove, Swindon, appeared before Wiltshire Magistrates in Swindon and pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage.
Pauline Lambert, prosecuting, told the court that on November 22 this year Conners was one of a group of lads drinking at Abbey Meads public house in Swindon.
When the group went out to the smoking area a scuffle broke out and the bar manager locked the door back into the pub. Conners then went berserk Miss Lambert said, adding: “He hit the glass several times, causing it to shatter.”
Defending, Mark Glendenning said Conners was of previous good character who made a stupid mistake in drink.
Bench chairman Debbie Slater told Conners his actions that day were: “an expensive afternoon’s madness.”
Conners was ordered to pay £200 compensation for the damaged glass and £85 court costs.
