MANAGER Pete Milhench is thrilled that his Supermarine Sports side weren’t knocked off course last weekend as their trip to Trowbridge Town was hampered by transport troubles.

Supermarine only arrived at Trowbridge’s Woodmarsh ground ten minutes before their 3pm kick-off after getting caught up in traffic on their way across the county.

But Milhench’s men shrugged off the loss of their pre-match routine with a dominant 5-0 victory, with Liam Kearns hitting a hat-trick and Dean Hughes finding the net twice.

“We didn’t get to the ground until ten minutes before kick-off. We got stuck in a lot of traffic coming through Chippenham,” said the Supermarine boss.

“They have quite a lot of people come to their ground for games and there were a few boos towards the players because we’d turned up so late.

“But that got the boys up for it. We had our two toughest games over at Trowbridge last season, so we were expecting a difficult game.

“In the end, (the score) should have been double. Before he got his hat-trick, Liam Kearns missed one from a few yards out and two minutes later, he hit the crossbar.

“But one thing we’ve not had for the last few seasons is an out-and-out goalscorer. Liam is only young but he’s scored four in three games and he might be the one to fill that role.”

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, high-flying Wroughton got back to winning ways with a 5-1 victory at Ludgershall Sports, with all three points moving the Weir Field side up to second in the table.

There was disappointment for Southbrook as they were beaten 4-2 at home by Trowbridge Wanderers but Malmesbury Victoria had an enjoyable journey back from Sarum Youth following their 8-0 victory over the Wilton-based side.

Wootton Bassett Town Development bounced back from their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Shrewton United last week by triumphing by the same scoreline at Marlborough Town.
