WINDMILL chief Colin Yates does not feel their stunning 10-1 win at Nationwide Pavilion will be enough to save them from relegation from Division Two.

Max Scholefield led the charge for Windmill, bagging half of his side’s goals as they claimed just a second league win of the season.

However, Yates’ men remain two points adrift at the foot of the table and time is running out for them to beat the drop.

“The team are delighted with the result but we are preparing for life in Division Three next season as I can’t see us getting out of this,” said Yates. “We’ve only got three games left and two of them are against KC Globe, starting at home on Sunday. They haven’t lost all season so it’s going to be very difficult for us.

“It’s the first time we’ve had everyone fit and a full team to pick from. If we’d had everyone available sooner then maybe we’d have had this kind of result already so we’d be in with a better chance of staying up.

“It’s been difficult as we have been without a goalkeeper all season as well and people have just had to fill in.”

Alongside Scholefield’s five-goal haul, James Joyce (2), Josh McGrory, Ezekiel Wardale and Yates were also on target for Windmill.

Elsewhere, KC Globe made it eight wins out of eight with a 3-1 success at West Swindon Wanderers, while Moonrakers were 3-0 winners over CH2M Hill.

Newly-crowned Division 1 champions Greyhound were beaten 4-1 on their trip to FC Walcot, while second-placed New Century thrashed Inter Sandgate 6-0.

Leaders Cleeve Tech’s Division Three title aspirations suffered a setback with a 6-2 loss at G Power Solutions. Rudis powered past Eldene 7-2 and Rodbourne Real triumphed 6-2 at Tawny Owl.

DPR remain on course to take the honours in Division Four after beating Chiseldon 4-3 and are now six points clear after second-placed DH Fitness lost 3-1 at Penhill Moonrakers. Stratton Saints saw off AFC Swindon United 4-2 in the other game.

Division Five leaders Marlborough Town Casuals won 3-2 at Bounce Squad but Cricklade MTA had the best result of the day, an 8-3 success over Nationwide. Coleshill Youth and AFC Freshbrook shared a thrilling 3-3 draw.

FC Abbey Meads climbed to the top of Division Six with a 6-1 win at home to County Ground.

Croft Junior and PSG Amateurs will meet in the final of the Bunny Uzzell Memorial Shield final after victories over PSV Swindon and AFC Tap & Barrel in the last four.

A new competition for the remaining six Division One teams will get under way on March 1 and will be known as the Maurice Ivory Cup.

Teams split into two groups and play each other once, with the top two in each progressing to the semi-finals.

Group A consists of AFC Gas, Inter Sandgate and New Century WMC, with FC Walcot, Greyhound and SKS Blyskawica in group B.
