ALASTAIR Drew says that The Clifton will be hoping that Chiseldon can give them a helping hand if they are to win the Swindon and District League Division One title.

Drew’s men have been left needing snookers for the crown following their 3-3 draw at Swindon Centurians.

While The Clifton can catch leaders KS Miltax on points, should both teams win all their remaining games, Clifton need to score 34 more goals than their title rivals.

“We know that we are not going to catch them on goals so we are now banking on Chiseldon snatching at least a point,” Drew said.

“They (KS Miltax) have only got one more game, while we have got three, it is going to be tough.”

The visitors took the lead in the 15th minute as Jake Kitchin netted, but the Centurians levelled soon after through Ricky Hewitson.

Carl Read restored The Clifton lead only for Gary Donnelly to equalise and send the two teams in at the break 2-2.

Kitchin put Drew’s men back in front on the hour mark, but with The Clifton boss off the pitch receiving treatment to a knee injury, Hewitson took full advantage and snatched a point for the Centurians.

In the other game in Division One, Jacob Squire earned Chiseldon a point against Ramsbury in a 1-1 draw.

In the only match in the Premier Division Lower Stratton and Village Inn played out a goalless draw.
