KS MILTAX sealed the Division One title with a thrilling 4-3 success at home to Chiseldon in their final game of the season.

Second-placed the Clifton still have two games to play but, following their 4-4 draw at Ramsbury, are eight points adrift and can no longer overhaul Miltax at the summit.

League newcomers Miltax have been the dominant side all season, dropping just 10 points throughout the campaign, and boss Bartosz Ludwicki has no doubt that they are worthy champions.

Ludwicki said: “It’s our first season so to win the league is a big deal.

“I think we deserved to win it, we’ve been consistent and only lost two games and our goal difference is 35 better than Clifton’s as well. All the team have done really well and I am so pleased for them. We’ve had a lot of players involved and they’ve all contributed something.

“I’m sure we have got what it takes to compete in the Premier Division next season. The players have been superb this season and we’re going to sign a few new ones as well to make sure we are as ready as we can be.”

Miltax knew victory over Chiseldon would clinch the title no matter how Clifton got on, but they were given a big scare and only nicked the points thanks to Jakub Bedrich’s stoppage time winner.

Ludwicki’s side shaded proceedings and looked to have done enough, only for Chiseldon to pull back level in the closing stages. However, Bedrich epitomised his team’s character by finding a way to win it at the death.

The goal saw Bedrich complete a hat-trick on the day, while Kamil Fiedorowicz was also on target from the penalty spot. Tom Davis, Stuart Cody and Arron Smith all replied for Chiseldon.

Boss Ludwicki added: “When they scored to make it 3-3 we thought it was going to end up as a draw as there wasn’t much time left but luckily we managed to get a winner.

“We knew straight away that we’d won it, as long as we won the game that was going to be enough because of our goal difference. But then I got a text to say that the Clifton had drawn just after our final whistle so that meant we could really celebrate.”

Swindon Spitfires were the biggest winners of the day, romping to a 9-0 success over visiting North Swindon WMC, while Swindon Centurions triumphed 3-0 at home to Redhouse.

In the only match in the Premier Division, champions Avtar Construction drew 2-2 away at Lower Stratton.
