Robin Harris, what do you have against Swindon Town Football club?
Your recent letter indicates you'd be against redevelopment at the County Ground because the football side of the business isn't profitable. Why should that mean a redevelopment can't go ahead?
I'd struggle to think of any Premiership team that even makes a profit through football alone. Most football clubs make their money through merchandising and non-footballing activities such as conferencing faclities and hotels.
This is exactly the reason why STFC need to redevelop the County Ground. Without these facilities the club, like many others in the Football League, simply isn't profitable at all and will inevitably fold.
Perhaps we should do away with the whole Football League seeing as you judge all its member clubs to not be 'financially viable'.
I'd like to point out the club does have a football-loving benefactor in Sir Seton Wills who has single handedly kept the football club alive for the past five years.
If you'd have read the proposals you would see that the redevelopment will be completely self-funding - which makes your whole argument completely unfounded.
