I AM pleased to see that there will be a local discussion on the Government's plans for managing our identities (Whose Identity Is It Anyway?, 7.30pm, February 13, Pilgrim Centre).

The Government's plans are far-reaching and we, the people, have had little chance to have our say on something that will impact on our lives in so many ways.

From school children to the elderly, no-one will go untouched by the Government's plans and, to make matters worse, all of this will be managed by the department that John Reid himself admitted is not fit for purpose' and has a deplorable track record for losing' criminals that should be monitored. A public debate on this is well overdue. Hopefully this meeting will help more people to become aware of just how these plans will infringe on all of our civil liberties.

A FLOCKHART.
