IN reply to Mrs Snelgrove, on February 13, you told us via the Swindon Advertiser, as well as in person, that you would arrange a meeting to debate the ID Card Act 2006.

This kind offer of yours was prompted, I believe, because you were unable to accept our invitation to debate the Act at the public meeting we arranged in February.

Although Michael Wills MP was able to attend the meeting, many of our group, being constituents of yours, would like to accept your offer of another Public Debate.

I understand that local council elections have consumed a large amount of your time, ours also. We surveyed each of the candidates that stood for election in the May council elections. The overwhelming majority of respondents are opposed to the National Identity Register, including a duly elected Labour candidate.

Now the elections are over it is timely to make good your commitment to us and allow us to debate the Identity Register with you fully.

Please let us know when and where the debate will take place. We will be happy to help publicise it for you.
