IMMEDIATELY following the failed terrorist attempts in London and Glasgow our new Prime Minister appeared on television and had the audacity to state that the Government's greatest priority was the protection of its people.

This, of course, is quite correct, but it comes from a man who has played a leading role in a Labour Government which has seen our once fine Armed Forces reduced to such an extent that they are now undermanned, badly equipped and most certainly overstretched.

It seems that Gordon Brown, as with Tony Blair and his non-existent weapons of mass destruction, is turning out to be a man who just cannot be believed.

If his words had any sincerity he would immediately withdraw our troops from Iraq and send them not to Afghanistan, but use them in aiding the civil powers in controlling points of entry into the country and in the fight against terrorism.
