I'M sure that John Prescott was very grateful for the show of loyalty from South Swindon's Labour MP, but are we really to be proud of a minister who has proved to be so successful in the various roles given to him that he now has next to nothing to do?

From his failure to deliver on transport to planning policies that threaten the green spaces of southern England, Mr Prescott has been a disaster.

Recent revelations have left him wide open to charges of hypocrisy.

My gran used to have a saying about people like Mr Prescott: "He's neither use nor ornament." He must go.
