WILL someone explain to me how the Home Office can be trusted to run a national identity card system and its even more insidious database when it clearly has no idea of the number of illegal immigrants already in the country.
In addition it has recently been made known that over 300,000 national insurance numbers per year are allocated to people with no verifiable evidence of identity being required.
In order to meet targets on the number of identity cards issued are we to assume that the Home Office will be as lax in ascertaining the integrity of the applicant as they clearly are in the awarding of a national insurance number?
It is difficult to believe that this or indeed any Government can be entrusted to protect the borders of this country.
