GORDON Brown has announced that he is committed to developing a new generation of nuclear weapons to replace the current Trident system.
Has he forgotten already that just over three years ago he voted in favour of invading Iraq on the pretext of an alleged programme of weapons of mass destruction?
Is he unaware of the United Kingdom's obligation as a signatory to the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty, to disarm existing nuclear weapons and not develop any new nuclear weapons?
Not only does a nuclear weapons capability not enhance our security, it actually increases the chances of such weapons falling into the hands of those who would seek to use them against us, as well as risking a new nuclear arms race.
The Labour party has never, and will never, get my vote while Tony Blair is in charge, And in the light of Mr Brown's statement, I will not vote for a Labour Party headed by him either.
