AN ACTION group aiming to stop the British National Party from getting a foothold in Swindon has taken to the streets again.
Swindon Against Fascism (SAF), who are campaigning against the BNP's candidate Reg Bates, were out in Gorse Hill and Pinehurst for the second time in two weeks to urge people not to vote for the far-right party in Thursday's council elections.
Mr Bates, a part-time cleaner from Old Town, is standing in the Gorse Hill and Pinehurst ward. He is the first BNP member to stand for Swindon Council and the only BNP candidate in the south west.
Previously local BNP members have described SAF's actions as interfering with the democratic process'.
