A CHARITY gig with a world-renowned DJ duo has been organised to raise funds for Jamie Mines.

The decade-spanning Plump DJs, who are considered to be the early pioneers of the breakbeat genre in the late 90s, will play the Silk Mill in Frome on Saturday, April 22 to raise money for the former semi-professional who had to have one leg and part of both his arms amputated after suffering an electrical shock in a freak work accident just before Christmas.

He also lost all of his toes on his other foot.

Following the accident, donations began to pour in for the dad-of-two from people all over the world and so far over £100,000 has been raised, which will be used for prosthetic limbs and for his twin baby girls Isabella and Savannah, who he shares with partner Harley.

Plump DJs will take time out of their hectic DJ schedule, which will later this year see them play to thousands at Glastonbury, Ibiza and more, to deliver one of their trademark sets. Lee Rous, one half of the duo, is looking forward to it.

He said: “We’re always up for supporting a good cause and have done so quite a few times in our career so we were more than happy to sign up to this gig.

“It’s a wonderful part of the country and the crowds are always up for a good time in the South West so it should be a really good party.

“Playing intimate gigs as opposed to playing in front of thousands of people is something we really enjoy doing once in a while – you get that instant reaction from the crowd by seeing their faces you don’t always get at the bigger events.

“We’ve been working on lots of new material in the studio lately so this gig will be the perfect opportunity to showcase it.

“It’s absolutely tragic what happened to Jamie so we’re looking forward to doing our bit – it should be a great night.”

Jamie moved to Swindon a year ago and it is understood he was working for Boundary Scaffolding at the time of the accident.
