STRIKER Andy Williams enjoyed a mixed afternoon against his former club as he first gave Town the lead against Yeovil before being forced off with a knee injury.

The former Glovers favourite picked the ball up on half-way before charging into the area and slotting past Marek Stech, but a matter of minutes later he was left in a heap after colliding with the Yeovil keeper.

Thankfully the prognosis was better than first feared, and while the forward does not know whether he will be fit to face Brentford on Tuesday, he is not expecting a long spell on the sidelines.

“I got a challenge from the keeper and I sort of jammed my knee in a way it shouldn’t have gone, and that is where all the pain was although there was a bit of bruising in my ankle,” he said.

“If I was being really critical I would say I should have got to the ball before the keeper then it wouldn’t have happened, but that is not what happened and I took the knock.

“It was disappointing to come off because I tried everything I could to stay on, but in the end it was the right thing to do because I was in pain and I didn’t want to risk it.

“It is not as bad now because it has had time to settle down and the ice had numbed it a little, so the signs are quite good that it isn’t a bad one.

“I am not sure about Tuesday, but hopefully after a good night’s sleep it will be okay.”

Although his afternoon ended prematurely, Williams was pleased to be able to set his side on their way to their first home victory since September 22.

“The ones I struggle with the most are the ones where you have more time to think about the finishes, but I got my shot away when the defenders were catching up a little, and although it probably isn’t the nicest finish you will ever see it went past the goalkeeper and it went in,” he said.

“It took a while for me to get my first one and then I got a few in a few games, but then I had to wait a while for my last one and I missed a few games through injury.

“But the gaffer always says that if you work the goals will come, and I scored and Collo (James Collins) scored a good two goals and Wardy scored one which was great.”
