SWINDON TOWN: Ward's waiting for an offer
6:00am Monday 3rd December 2012 in Sport By Sam Morshead
Swindon Town's Darren Ward
DARREN Ward’s future is out of his own hands, as the defender waits to hear whether he is wanted by Paolo Di Canio on a long-term basis.
The defender, whose loan deal from Millwall expires on January 5, has not spoken about the possibility of an extension with the Swindon Town manager and he has stressed that he is not keen to think too much about what will happen in the new year just yet.
However, having made 15 appearances to date for the Robins in an environment that suits his lifestyle down to a T, Ward is definitely loving his time in Wiltshire.
“It’s something which I will probably look at nearer the time or whatever the manager decides. It is out of my hands. I can say many things now but ultimately he makes the decisions and I respect that,” he said.
“He might not want me. I am enjoying it. He’s not said anything to me. I’m totally fine and enjoying it.
“I’m on loan until January. It’s one of those where I’m going to see how things go. I’m enjoying it and I want to keep enjoying it but I really want to start helping to get some wins and keep high up this table.
“I’m a believer in dealing day by day in football because things can literally change day by day in football.
“I don’t like to plan too much. I am a bit of a planner in general but when it comes to football you have to be very wary and cautious with the different situations that could come up.
“I’m thinking about being here and concentrating about here and I’m really enjoying it here.
“For some people who might be wondering why I dropped a level to play here it’s because it’s what I want to do. I spoke to the (Millwall) manager (Kenny Jackett) probably a year ago and mentioned that I wanted to leave.
“Before that it was quite clear what I wanted to do. It’s taken a bit of time to find a club which I’d like to give it a go with and hit the levels I’d like to hit.
“Whether it’s the league below, a league higher or abroad it was really a case of where I feel I’d be comfortable.”
Meanwhile, Jay McEveley has flown to Rome for treatment on a knee problem.
Reports suggest the Town man will undergo a cartilage operation but it is unknown how long he will be sidelined.

The McEverley injury is a bit of a shock, where does that leave us now for cover, if bensonne is out, maybe Lou Thompson can play there.

Gonna be struggling for defence this weekend, Macca is suspended and I doubt very much if JMac is able to play. Flint is still suspended I believe.
Looks like it might be L. thompson or Raffa at L/B .
Gonna be a toughie for us as Donny are flying at the moment although Oldham stuffed them at the weekend.
I'm certain that Paolo has plan to win this one though and the two weeks fitness training will have knocked a couple of the players into shape.

Surely the bigger story is mcevelys injury more than likely it will get McCormack back in the team as left back and captain bring back Callum Kennedy I say :)

Why does McEverley have to go to Rome for treatment?

For a starter he would be waiting for 2 years and when he finally did get the appointment they would operate on the other knee.......;)

Hmm. Thought Flint was back from suspension now, obviously doesn't help at left back though. Ah well, sure we've got enough to give Donny a good game. They'll be a tough side to beat but hopefully there's been enough target practice in the weel off to give us the edge.

Not ideal but then having not brought in a loanee to cover left back with Bessone out long-term is not ideal either, and is a managerial mistake in my opinion.
McEveley whilst a very good player and rightly first choice at left back, doesn't look a 50 game a season man to me, he gets in the wars a bit and can see him getting a suspension with the verbals at some point.

Bessone it like a ghost at the minute, got injured and doesn't seem to be on the radar at all. Saw him play one good game but hasn't featured much aside from that. No cover at left back really unless playing Thompson or McCormack out of position.

Surely Flint is back isn't he?...or was it a straight red for him last time?...he's had a few cards this year and I can't remember now.

McEverley is a big miss...hope the others are right about Thompson for left back.
.
Noticed Caddis is back and playing for Birmingham 1st team.

Granted the position is a headache for Pdc with Bessone who's next to useless as an alternative.

Not against signing Ward as he has done well recently but Troy looked pretty decent first few games and would like to see him given a chance. Given the amount of money we paid for him, surely should see what he can do in his best position before signing someone else permanently.

SAP, Yep atraight red and an extra game as it was his second red this season.
If Flint is back then he'll more than likely go to C/ B unless Paolo want to punish him further and Devera to the left ( god help us )##

Is Flint back ? has he served his four match suspension ? I thought he had one more to go, SAP, Yep atraight red and an extra game as it was his second red this season. Flint is back has served his suspension. I was not at game but did Dev not play at LB against stevenage and do well?? If yes might be option to play him there if Jmac out but bit harsh to shove him there when he has done so well recently at cb but perhaps needs must. I'd go Nathan rb, Ward and Flint, Dev lb. COYR! And i also think we should sign Ward up
