TWO goals in the final 16 minutes condemned Chippenham to their first Southern Premier defeat in three matches at Stourbridge.

The returning Dean Griffiths was first to show for the Bluebirds when a James Guthrie corner was cleared to him on the edge of the area and his low shot was blocked on the line.

Alex Kite then fired wide while at the other end Marvin Nisbett’s angled shot suffered a similar fate.

Against the run of play Stourbridge conjured up the next chance with Luke Benbow just failing to convert Ben Billingham’s deflected cross.

Then Tyrone Mings’ throw was swiftly moved to the right by Scott Lye and Griffiths drove forward before firing past Lewis Solly.

Stourbridge won a penalty when Sean Evans went down under a challenge from Ashley Williams and Ben John could not keep out Sean Geddes’ penalty.

Worse was to follow for the Bluebirds in the 94th minute when Benbow’s angled drive beat John and gave the hosts three points.

In Division One South & West, Cirencester fell to a 3-0 defeat at Poole and their misery was compounded when striker Sam Collier was injured late on.

Warren Byerley put Poole 1-0 up with 15 minutes played and two goals at the start of the second half killed the match off.

Byerley headed in the first from Steve Devlin’s delivery, and Devlin was again the provider when skipper Michael Walker nodded in his free kick.

Sub Collier was taken off with a ankle problem late on, meaning the Centurions played out the closing minutes with 10 men.
