CHRIS Martin would like to extend his loan stay at Swindon Town, stating he still has “unfinished business” in front of goal with the Robins.

The striker has featured seven times for Swindon since making the temporary switch from Norwich in November without finding the back of the net, and his current deal expires after the visit of Carlisle tomorrow.

A longer spell in Wiltshire is still a possibility and Martin, whose contract with the Canaries expires this summer and has been told by Carrow Road boss Chris Hughton that he is not part of his plans, would welcome the chance to remain with the Robins beyond this weekend.

“I think I’ve given 100 per cent in terms of work rate I just don’t think I have performed as well as I can and not got the goal return I set out to achieve in the loan spell,” he said.

“I’ve been frustrated that I haven’t scored. I don’t think it’s affected me too much. I still think I’ve played okay but as a striker you know a good performance is normally rounded off by a goal or two - that’s how your’e defined as a striker.

“It maybe feels like I’ve got a bit of unfinished business here in terms of the goal return and how I think I’ve played. I think I’ve got more to give, but whether that ends up being the case and I do end up staying I really don’t know at this point.

“I’ve got to look at Saturday as my last game and then anything on top of that we’ll have to wait and see.”
