MILES Storey finally has peace of mind after being told he will be offered a new contract at Swindon Town.

The striker, who impressed during his first season as a professional at the County Ground with a handful of cameo performances, has by his own admission been able to think of little else other than his own personal future over recent days.

However, following a meeting with manager Kevin MacDonald on Thursday morning, he is in a much more comfortable place.

He told the Advertiser: “It’s brilliant for me. I’ve been here for three years now so it’s become like a second home for me. I’m really pleased that I get a chance now to show what I can do and become a regular in the team.

“I’ve been out for a long time with my hamstring injury and the gaffer just said to me it is from the little bits he’s seen in training and the little bit in the game that shows I can do a job.

“He’s said I can improve, which is fair enough - that’s why I’m here. Next year I’ll be able to do that with the new deal.

“You always think about it - maybe not when you’re training and playing because everything else seems to go to the back of your head then - but in your off time you’re thinking ‘what am I going to do if I don’t get a deal’.

“This year I think I’ve done well in the games that I’ve played in but, like anyone, I’d like to play more regularly and improve and try to force my way into the starting team more often.”
