THE new boss at Malmesbury will have Hellenic League football to look forward to next season.

Vics finished second-bottom of Division One West in the campaign just gone, but have been told by the league that they will not be relegated.

With Simon Winstone having vacated the managerial position, the club is hoping to name a successor soon and officials are planning to meet two candidates this week, the first of these tonight.

Chairman Phil Exton said: “We’re still looking and we’ve got two or three potential candidates to go to.

“They are the two definite candidates that have come forward, other names have been suggested but haven’t applied.

“It looks as if we’re going to make a decision out of those two. Hopefully we’ll do that in the next week.”

Anyone interested in applying for the role should phone secretary Julie Exton on 07595 725263.

WOOTTON Bassett are locked in talks with ‘a number’ of candidates for the manager’s post.

Dave Turner left the role at the end of last season having got the club promoted to the Hellenic Premier.

Head of Bassett’s senior section Chris Jones said: “We’re talking to a number of people at the moment, but we’re not prepared to discuss any names.”

Meanwhile, a charity match played in memory of former non-league favourite Sean Clarke took place at Rylands Way at the weekend.

Old boys sides from Bassett and Purton - former clubs of Clarke - faced each other with the latter winning 7-4.

More than £1,100 was raised and will be donated to Prospect Hospice.

HIGHWORTH’S managerial team, John Fisher and Kevin Moloney, are to hold talks regarding their respective futures on Saturday.

The pair will meet with Elms chairman Rohan Haines to discuss the way forward following a difficult Hellenic Premier campaign.

FAIRFORD held their end-of-season awards ceremony on Saturday with manager’s player going to Henry Trass and players’ player being won by Callum Parsons.

SHRIVENHAM have organised a pre-season veterans game with West Brom. The charity clash will take place at Barrington Park on Sunday, August 4 (3pm).
